Two drug traffickers arrested with 20,000 yaba tablets in Teknaf
Two drug traffickers have been arrested with 20,000 yaba tablets in a joint operation by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
The operation was conducted in the Boro Habirpara area of Teknaf Municipality on Saturday (November 1) morning.
Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman, PSC, said that based on a secret tip-off, a joint team of BGB and RAB-15 conducted an operation in the area from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.
During the search, 20,000 yaba tablets were recovered from inside the toilet of the house of local drug dealer Md. Shaker.
During this time, two traffickers named Md. Shaker (40) and Md. Zakir (35) were arrested.
The BGB said that several other members of the drug gang fled after being alerted to the operation.
Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman said, “This joint operation by the BGB and RAB to eradicate drugs is a reflection of our strong commitment. The operation will continue to stop drug smuggling at the border.”
