Seeds, fertilizers distribution launched in Nakla
Free distribution seeds and chemical fertilizers among small and marginal farmers have been inaugurated under the agricultural incentive program for the 2025-26 fiscal years in Nakla upazila of Sherpur district on Wednesday noon. The initiative aims to boost the production of various crops during the upcoming Rabi season.
The Upazila Administration and Upazila Agriculture Extension Department jointly organized the inaugural program at the Upazila Parishad Hall Room in the noon. Sherpur Deputy Commissioner Tarafder Mahmudur Rahman inaugurated the distribution as the chief guest.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Jahangir Alam presided over the program, while Sherpur Farm House Deputy Director Agriculturist Md Sakhawat Hossain attended as special guest.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Shahriar Morsalin Mehedi delivered the welcome address and Agriculture Extension Officer Agriculturist Fariha Yasmin conducted the distribution program.
Among others, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sadia Afrin Anny, former Upazila BNP convener Khorshedur Rahman and former Upazila Jamaat Ameer Mufti Khademul Islam spoke on the occasion.
Speakers said the government attaches top priority to sustainable agricultural growth and productivity. They expressed hope that the incentives would strengthen the rural economy and help ensure food security.
Nakla Thana’s OC Habibur Rahman, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md Anwar Hossain Shamim, Talki UP Chairman Mozaffor Mohiuddin Bulbul, Sub Assistant Agricultural Officers (SAAO) working in different blocks of the upazila, local political leaders, journalists of different media dignitaries and many more farmers from different areas of the upazila were present.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Shahriar Morsalin Mehedi said that 3,360 farmers of the upazila will receive free seeds and chemical fertilizers. Every farmer has been provided seeds, Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilizer for cultivating of land in phases this Rabi season, he added.
