For the first time in Bangladesh, a book stall named “Reader’s Corner” has been inaugurated for passengers at the railway station of Sreemangal, the tourist city known as the tea capital. This “Reader’s Corner” was established to pass the time of the passengers waiting at the station. On Thursday (October 30), a book stall named “Reader’s Corner” was inaugurated at the initiative of Sreemangal Municipality. As a result, passengers waiting for a long time for the train will be able to spend their time by reading various types of books. Sreemangal Upazila Executive Officer and Sreemangal Municipality Administrator Md. Islam Uddin inaugurated the book stall as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony.
Sreemangal Municipality Executive Engineer Md. Jahirul Islam, Upazila Engineer Md. Yusuf Hossain Khan, OC of Sreemangal Railway Police Station Khairul Islam Talukder, among others.
Sreemangal Upazila Executive Officer and Sreemangal Municipal Administrator Md. Islam Uddin said that Sreemangal Railway Station is not only one of the railway stations in Moulvibazar district, but also an important tourist city in the country. Srimangal is also called the ‘Capital of Tea’ due to being the main region in tea production in the country. For this reason, many VIP passengers, intellectuals, students and many others travel through this station.
Sometimes, due to train delays, passengers wait for a long time at the railway station. This is our effort to relieve their boredom.
I am hopeful that with everyone’s cooperation, this initiative will become exemplary for all.
