RAB rescues 22 abductees in operation in Teknaf

22 abducted victims have been rescued from the hilly area in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar in an adventurous operation by RAB. Among them are one Bangladeshi and 21 Rohingya citizens.
An active human trafficking gang was preparing to kidnap them, collect ransom and smuggle them to Malaysia. On the night of (October 26), based on secret information, a special team of CPC-1 (Teknaf Camp) of RAB-15 conducted an operation in the deep hills of Teknaf and rescued 22 victims from the hideout of human traffickers. All of them live in Hatiarghona Karachipara area of ​​Teknaf Sadar Union.
The rescued victim, Mubarak (17), said that he was abducted from the Kalatali area of ​​Cox’s Bazar on the afternoon of October 13 and kept in the hills of Karachipara. Then, a ransom of 5 lakh taka was demanded from his family. When the ransom was not paid, he and others were beaten up, and even tortured, such as burning their bodies with cigarette butts and pulling out their nails with pliers.
The traffickers also threatened to send them to Malaysia if the ransom was not received.
After the incident, a case was filed against the human trafficking gang at Teknaf Model Police Station under Sections 323/324/326/364(a)/34 of the Penal Code and Sections 7/8/10 of the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking Act, 2012.
RAB-15 Assistant Superintendent of Police and Assistant Director (Law and Media) A. M. Faruk said,
“Human trafficking is a serious crime. RAB-15 is following a zero tolerance policy against human traffickers. The fugitive members of this gang will also be arrested soon and brought to justice.”
