A woman has been accused of beating a woman over encroachment of ancestral property in Sreepur, Gazipur. In this incident, Mrs. Rehena Parveen (38), wife of Md. Ibrahim, a resident of Ward No. 2 of Sreepur Municipality, filed a written complaint with the Sreepur Police Station, naming Md. Mohsin Khandaker (55), Hasan Khandaker (50), Qadir Khan (50), Md. Monir (48), Forkan (30), Md. Monir (26) of the same area as the main accused. According to the complaint source, the defendant Mohsin Khandaker and his associates had been trying to encroach on Rehena Parveen’s ancestral land for a long time. In continuation of this, on Monday (October 27) at around 9 am, 30-35 people, on the orders of Mohsin Khandaker, took tin, pillars and wood to the said land in the Dakshin Bhangnahat area and tried to forcibly establish a boundary. When Rehena Parveen resisted, the defendants abused her in foul language and dragged her to a nearby poultry farm. The complaint states that she was severely beaten and injured there. Upon receiving the news of the incident, Rehena Parveen’s cousin Siddique informed the Sreepur police station. Later, Sreepur police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abul Bashar went to the spot and rescued Rehena Parveen and admitted her to the Sreepur Upazila Health Complex. Mohsin Khandaker said that the allegations against me are false and fabricated. I have not occupied anyone’s land. They have been at enmity with me for a long time. In this regard, Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Barik said, “We have received a written complaint. The matter will be investigated and legal action will be taken.”
