People on the banks of the Padma are scared of crocodiles in Louhjang

Crocodile fear has spread in the area along the banks of the Padma River in Louhjang, Munshiganj. This fear has been prevailing in Shyamubari village of Gaondia union of the upazila for a few days.
Locals claim that crocodiles are emerging from the Padma River at night and in the morning. People on the banks of the Padma are in fear. Residents of the area are spending their days in fear.
Some residents of Shyamubari village said that at least two crocodiles have been seen on the banks of a pond in the village. When the matter came to light, there was a sensation in the area.
Schoolchildren and many people from the surrounding area are crowding the pond out of curiosity. Local youth Md. Hayat Hossain and Md. Rana alias Madhu said that around 8 pm on Thursday, pedestrians saw a crocodile near the cowshed while passing by the pond. They screamed in panic, and people around them came running. Later, when they tried to take a picture of the crocodile with a flashlight, the crocodile slowly moved from the pond bank towards the river. Local housewife Salina Begum said, “I saw a crocodile near the cowshed at night. When I tried to take a picture, it moved away from the pond bank.” The locals, alarmed by the incident, demanded the administration’s intervention. They have called for the immediate rescue of the crocodiles and necessary steps to ensure the safety of the locals. Louhajang Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Nesar Uddin said, “The matter has been reported to the Forest Department. Necessary measures will be taken through them.”
