Kidnapped teenager Rima from Sreemangal, rescued from aunt’s house in Sylhet

Rima Rani Sarkar (15) from Sreemangal in Moulvibazar has been rescued from her aunt’s house in Dharadharpur area of ​​Dakshin Surma in Sylhet. Police have arrested Rima’s aunt and two others in connection with the abduction. At a press conference at Sreemangal Police Station on Saturday (October 25) afternoon, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Aminul Islam said that Rima Rani Sarkar went missing while offering prayers at the R.K. Mission Road Durga Temple in Sreemangal town on September 29, the seventh day of Durga Puja.
In this incident, the victim’s father Motilal Biswas filed a complaint with the Sreemangal Police Station against Badrul Alam (25) of Katalkandi village in Kamalganj upazila and three others.
In view of the complaint, a case (No. 08, date: 05.10.2025) was registered under Section 7/30 of the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act, 2000 (Amendment 2003).
After the kidnapping, under the direction of the IGP of Bangladesh Police and the DIG of Sylhet Range, the Sreemangal Police Station started an operation under the overall supervision of Moulvibazar District Superintendent of Police Md. M.K.H. Jahangir Hossain, PPM-SEBA.
With the help of information technology and analyzing the CCTV footage around the scene, the police conducted a series of operations.
In continuation of this, on October 08 and 11, the two accused in the case, Badrul Alam (25) and Shahid Mia (32), were arrested and handed over to the learned court.
Since sufficient information about the victim was not available from them, the investigation was further intensified.
Further investigation revealed that a mobile phone used by the victim’s aunt Priyanka Sarkar was recovered and the victim’s location was identified by analyzing its call records.
It is learned that Shilpi Sarkar alias Shilpi Begum and her husband Mobarak Mia have detained the victim in their rented house in the Dharadharpur area of ​​​​Dakshin Surma Police Station in Sylhet district.
The investigation further revealed that Shilpi Sarkar (Shilpi Begum) is the victim’s own aunt.
About two years ago, she converted to Islam and got married to Mobarak Mia due to a love affair.
On the day of the incident, as planned, he stayed in the area adjacent to the temple and on his way back after Anjali, lured the teenager Rima to the Dharadharpur area of ​​​​Sylhet and cut off contact with the family.
Even after the incident, when the victim’s mother contacted the involved Shilpi Sarkar alias Shilpi Begum and asked about the victim, he denied it.
Last (October 24), a special operation by the Sreemangal Police Station with the help of information technology rescued the victim Rima Rani Sarkar and arrested Shilpi Sarkar alias Shilpi Begum and her husband Mobarak Mia, who were involved in the incident.
