People catch UPDF member during extortion in Ramgarh and hand him over to the army

Local people caught UPDF member Batya Ram Chakma red-handed while collecting extortion in the Khagrabil area of ​​Ramgarh upazila of Khagrachari.
The incident occurred around the afternoon of Thursday (October 23).
The arrested person was later handed over to the army of Sindukchari Zone under the Guimaras Region.
It is learned that Batya Ram Chakma demanded a bribe of Tk 2,000 from local businessman Md. Jahangir this morning while he was harvesting the crops from his paddy field.
In the afternoon, when he came to collect donations, the locals of Khagrabil gathered and caught him.
Speaking to people in the area, it was learned that the terrorist had been extorting money from businessmen in the area for a long time.
Locals expressed relief at his arrest.
Meanwhile, the arrest of Batya Ram Chakma has led to allegations that UPDF leaders Edison Chakma and Zion Chakma of Kalapani area have threatened to kill businessman Md. Jahangir.
The army has handed over the arrested extortionist to Ramgarh police station.
During initial interrogation by the police, he admitted to his involvement in extortion.
He also told the police that he used to extort money in the area on the orders of UPDF leaders Edison Chakma, Zion Chakma, Jayant Chakma and Royal Chakma from the Kalapani area of ​​Ramgarh.
Ramgarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Moin Uddin said that the extortionist arrested by the army has been handed over to the police station.
Necessary legal action is underway in this regard.
