29 kidnapping victims rescued in Teknaf, 3 traffickers arrested
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) conducted two successful day-long operations to curb human trafficking and organized crime.
In these operations, 29 victims were rescued and three members of a human trafficking gang were arrested red-handed.
On Wednesday morning, BGB members rescued a group of hostages from a remote mountain peak in Sadar Rajachhara area of Teknaf.
Later that night, 29 innocent victims were rescued while they were preparing to be trafficked into the deep sea in a surprise operation conducted in Marine Drive beach area.And 3 (three) human traffickers were arrested red-handed by BGB.
Teknaf Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman, PSC said, “Today has brought an extremely bad news for human traffickers and organized criminal gangs on the Teknaf border.
We rescued the hostages from the remote peak of the mountain in the morning and foiled the human trafficking on the sea coast in the evening. We will not tolerate such heinous crimes against humanity. Our continuous and strict surveillance and operation will continue.”
The process of handing over the rescued 29 victims to the concerned authorities after completing the necessary administrative procedures is underway. At the same time, the BGB said that cases are being registered against the 03 human traffickers arrested under the prevailing laws of the country.
