Victim Hridoy Chandra Das held a press conference in Kaliganj Upazila area of ​​Gazipur, alleging land grabbing, extortion and death threats. The victim’s family organized the press conference at the Gazipur Press Club on Tuesday afternoon.
In a written statement, Hridoy Chandra Das said that he lives in Gazipur city for professional reasons.
He had purchased 34.50 percent of land in Sujapur Mouza of Kaliganj Upazila and was occupying it with bindery walls, sheds and tin fences.
On October 15, local Shankar Rosario and Lawrence Costa, along with 50/60 terrorists, broke into the land structures and erected walls on the road, blocking the road. At that time, they demanded extortion of Tk 20 lakh. Otherwise, they threatened to occupy the land and kill him. On October 19, they again looted various property belonging to the land.
At the press conference, he demanded that the administration conduct an impartial investigation, arrest the criminals and take necessary steps to protect his property. He also requested that the security of him and his family be ensured. His wife Preeti Das and brother Nirmal Chandra Das were present at the press conference.
When asked about this, Shankar Rosario denied the allegations and said that the land is ours. When we went to work on the land that day, Hridoy Chandra Das’s people hacked our workers and injured 3 of them. They have been admitted to various hospitals.
