A cocktail explosion occurred at the meeting venue of Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the northern region of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), in Bogura. The incident occurred on the afternoon of October 20/25, Monday, next to the Zilla Parishad Auditorium. It is learned that Sarjis Alam came to the Bogra Zilla Parishad Auditorium around 3 pm to attend a coordination meeting. Before the meeting, he exchanged views with journalists on various issues including elections. During the meeting, two cocktails were suddenly thrown from the direction of the Karatoya River behind the Zilla Parishad. One of them exploded in the premises, while the other remained unexploded. Upon receiving the information, the police quickly reached the spot and surrounded the area and recovered the unexploded cocktail. Regarding the incident, Sarjis Alam said that such sabotage proves that the security situation in the country is worrying. We call on the administration and the interim government to quickly identify the culprits and bring them to justice.
Bogra Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasan Bashir told reporters that the incident is being investigated seriously.
Multiple police teams are on the ground. Those involved in the incident will be identified and arrested quickly. On the other hand, NCP leaders took out a protest march in the city immediately after the incident.
