Human chain protesting police torture on teachers in Chapainawabganj
A peaceful program of teachers and employees affiliated to MPO has been held in Chapainawabganj to protest police torture on teachers and demand nationalization of education.
The District College Teachers and Employees Welfare Association organized this human chain in front of Shah Neamatullah College adjacent to Bishwa Road, the entrance to the city, at 11 am on Sunday (October 19).
The human chain was presided over by Obaidur Rahman, Principal of Nachol Women’s College.
The association’s vice-president, Shah Neamatullah College principal Tariqul Alam Siddiqui Nayan, general secretary Shibganj Birshrestha Shaheed Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Government College lecturer Babul Akhtar, former MP from Chapainawabganj-3 Sadar constituency Alhaj Latifur Rahman, former chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad Mokhlesur Rahman and former vice chairman Nazrul Islam also expressed solidarity with the teachers’ demands. The speakers in the hour-long human chain condemned the police torture on teachers and demanded that the teachers’ reasonable demands be quickly accepted by increasing the medical allowance by 1,500 taka, house rent by 20 percent and festival allowance by 75 percent.
