28 Rohingyas and 1 shelter worker arrested for illegally living outside Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar

Rohingya refugees have been living in illegal rented houses in various parts of Cox’s Bazar for a long time. As a result, the crime trend is increasing at a geometric rate. The local conscious community is worried about this. Finally, the state army Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) has launched an operation against Rohingya refugees living in illegal rented houses outside the Rohingya camps.
As a result, the involvement in various criminal activities including murder, robbery, drug trafficking, kidnapping, etc. outside the camps will be greatly reduced, and the law and order situation in Cox’s Bazar and surrounding districts will improve.
RAB Assistant Director (Law and Media) Assistant Superintendent of Police A.M. Rafique confirmed the incident in a press release, saying, “On the night of October 12, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) conducted a raid on various rented houses in Sikder Para of Simanto Upazila Teknaf and arrested 28 Rohingya women, men, children and a shelter worker, Borhan Uddin (18), son of the deceased Rashid Ahmed of Sikder Para area, who were illegally staying outside the Rohingya camp.”
They have been handed over to Teknaf Police Station after filing a case under the relevant sections, the Teknaf Police Station OC confirmed.
