BGB member’s leg blown off in mine explosion
A member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has lost his leg in a mine explosion planted by Myanmar’s armed group Arakan Army on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.
The incident took place on Sunday (October 12) near Pillar No. 41 of the Tumbru border in Naikhongchari, Bandarban.
The injured BGB member is Naik Akhtar Hossain of Reju Amtali BOP. He is a member of 34 BGB.
According to local sources, a mine explosion occurred while he was patrolling at a proposed temporary post inside Bangladesh under Reju Amtali BOP at noon.
As a result, Naik Akhtar Hossain’s right ankle was severed. His left leg was seriously injured.
His colleagues quickly rescued him and admitted him to the Combined Military Hospital in Ramu Cantonment after primary treatment. He is currently undergoing treatment there.
BGB Sector Commander (Ramu) Colonel Mohammad Mohiuddin confirmed the matter.
