Amtali Ulama League President Madrasa Super’s Irregularities and Corruption complaint
Extensive allegations of corruption and irregularities have been received against Amtali Upazila Ulama League President Uttar Kalampur (Kalibari) Noorani Girls Dakhil Madrasa Super Maulana Md. Alauddin Sikder. He has embezzled lakhs of taka through fake recruitment business by using the influence of Awami League. The victims have demanded punishment for his such activities. It is reported that Maulana Alauddin Sikder, a resident of Sakharia village in Amtali Upazila, took up the post of Super in Uttar Kalampur Noorani Girls Dakhil Madrasa in the upazila in 1992. It is alleged that he took refuge in the irregularities and immorality of the madrasa and embezzled the stipend money in the madrasa, engaged in recruitment business, disputes over the formation of committees, and behaved disrespectfully with the founder. His life changed immediately after the Awami League government came to power in 2009. He became the president of the Amtali Upazila Ulama League. Former MP Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu used his influence to start recruitment business in the madrasa. Without opening a vocational branch, he appointed a person named Md. Abdul Haque as a technical shop assistant by taking a bribe of 5 lakh taka. He has not opened a vocational branch in that madrasa till date. The victim alleges that he has been living a very difficult life for the last 16 years. In 2020, he embezzled 6.5 lakh taka by promising to give a job to a person named Hafizur Rahman as a night watchman. But instead of giving him a job, he hired someone else with a large sum of money. An arbitration meeting was held at the madrasa regarding this. But to this day, the victim Hafizur Rahman alleges that he has not returned his money. He took money on the pretext of giving a job to a person named Barek. It is alleged that he embezzled lakhs of taka by promising to give jobs to several people in this way. In addition, Maulana Alauddin Sikder established a fake orphanage in the Sakharia area on paper. Locals allege that he embezzled at least 12 lakh taka in the last 10 years. In addition, he created a fake voter list in the guardian representative election to include Awami League associates in the committee. In January this year, Shanu Talukder, an associate of Super Maulana Alauddin Sikder, filed a complaint with the Barguna District Commissioner’s office against two sons of Madrasa founder ABM Rafiqullah, Assistant Professor of Barguna Government College Md. Wahab Mia and Headmaster (Acting) of Uttar Purba Kalagachhia Government Primary School Abdur Rahman, for falsely demanding extortion. But the complaint was proven false. The victims demanded that the allegations of corruption and misconduct of Awami League-friendly Super Alauddin Sikder be investigated immediately and action be taken. The victim, Abdul Haque, said, “He took a bribe of 5 lakh taka without opening a vocational branch and gave me a fake appointment. He has wasted 16 years of my life. I am demanding punishment for Madrasa Super Maulana Alauddin.” Md. Hafizur Rahman, who applied for the post of night watchman, said, “They took 6.5 lakh taka from me on the pretext of giving me a job. Instead of giving me a job, they gave a job to someone else. An arbitration meeting was held at the madrasa regarding this. But till date, they have not returned my money. Founder ABM Rafiqullah said, Superintendent Alauddin Sikder has turned the madrasa into a den of corruption. The superintendent is accused of various charges including fake recruitment business, embezzlement of stipend money, and forming committees with Awami League associates. He demands that an investigation be conducted against him immediately and action be taken. Amtoli Upazila Ulama League President Madrasa Superintendent Maulana Alauddin Sikder said, “The allegations against me are false. Such allegations have been made to hurt me in various ways.” Barguna District Secondary Education Officer said, “Strict action will be taken after the victims file a complaint and an investigation.”
Amtali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Roknuzzaman Khan said that action will be taken after investigation if any complaint is received about irregularities. Barguna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shafiul Alam said that a complaint was filed against the two sons of the madrasa founder but the truth of the complaint was not found. He also said that action will be taken after investigation if any complaint is received against the superintendent.
