Bangladesh Navy is conducting continuous patrols in the sea and coastal areas under the ‘Ma Hilsa Conservation-2025’ campaign, a step taken to protect the country’s sovereignty and ‘In Eight to Civil Power’. In continuation of this, last Tuesday (07-10-2025), during patrol operations in the Bay of Bengal, the Navy ship ‘Banouja Shaheed Mohibullah’ rescued 26 fishermen in a helpless, life-threatening condition.

Fishing trawler named ‘MV Tajminur Rahman’ was rescued by the Bangladesh Navy ship from about 27 nautical miles away from the Cox’s Bazar lighthouse with its engine broken. As the movement of the trawler seemed unusual, the naval ship approached the trawler and the naval members saw the signals of the fishermen in distress. Later, the naval members rescued the helpless fishermen very quickly. Immediately after rescuing the hungry fishermen, the members of the Navy ship provided them with necessary food, clean water and emergency first aid. Later, the Navy ship brought the rescued people and the fishing trawler safely to the shore and handed them over to their families and owners. According to the fishermen, the trawler went to sea on 30 September 2025 for fishing and while returning to the shore on 03 October 2025, the engine of the trawler broke down and they were left floating in the middle of the sea. It is worth noting that all the rescued fishermen are residents of Maheshkhali Upazila.

Bangladesh Navy is working tirelessly to ensure the security of the country’s maritime borders and the safety of people in the coastal areas, which will continue in the future.
