A court has sentenced a young man named Zahirul Islam alias Babu to death for killing his wife and two daughters in Jashore.
The order was given by the Additional District and Sessions Judge of the 8th Court of Jashore, Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Tipu on Monday afternoon. The matter was confirmed by the Additional PP of the court concerned, Mahabubur Rahman. The death sentence was given to Babu, the son of Mashiur Biswas of Jagannathpur Biswaspara in Jashore Sadar Upazila. Babu was present in the court when the verdict was announced. According to court and case sources, Zahirul Islam’s in-laws are in Siddhipasha village of Abhaynagar Upazila. Babu was returning to his home on the afternoon of July 15, 2022, with his wife Sabina Yasmin Bithi (32) and two daughters Sumaiya (9) and Safia (2). Earlier, a dispute started between the husband and wife over various issues. On the way back, Babu strangled his wife and two daughters in the village of Chanpatla in Abhaynagar upazila. Then he dumped the bodies in a garden in the Chengutia area next to the Jashore-Khulna highway.
Later, after informing the family about the matter, he himself went to the Basundia Police Investigation Center and revealed everything.
After that, he was taken into DB custody. Sabina Yasmin Bithi’s father Mujibur Rahman filed a case with Abhaynagar police station regarding this incident. He alleged that Bithi married Babu 11 years ago. There had been a dispute in their marital life since their marriage. In addition, Babu used to beat Bithi for various demands.
At one point, he was given 160,000 taka. Even then, the torture did not stop. Bithi was also beaten and beaten on the day of the incident. The case states that Babu strangled all three of them to death on the way home. The same information also emerged during the police investigation. At one point, Abhaynagar Police Station SI Golam Hossain submitted a chargesheet against Babu to the court on November 30, 2022. While announcing the verdict in the case on Monday, the court ordered Babu to be hanged and ordered him to be sent to prison.
