Joint operation by Coast Guard and Navy in Teknaf: 8 people including women and children rescued
On the morning of October 1, 2025, the Coast Guard and Navy conducted a joint operation in the deep hills of Bahar Chara in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar and rescued 8 women and children who were being held captive for the purpose of trafficking, said Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq.
He said that based on intelligence information, a number of people, including women and children, have been held captive in the deep hills of Baharchara in Teknaf for the purpose of trafficking to Malaysia by sea.
Based on such information, a joint operation was conducted by the Bangladesh Coast Guard and Navy on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 5 pm to 7 pm.
During the operation, Coast Guard and Navy members rescued 8 people, including women and children, who were being held captive for the purpose of trafficking from the smugglers’ hideout in the area adjacent to the Jumma Para hills of Baharchhara, Teknaf.
During the operation, it was not possible to arrest anyone as the smugglers fled after sensing the presence of the joint forces.
Intelligence surveillance and operations by the Navy and Coast Guard are ongoing to arrest them, Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq said.
He also said that the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent human trafficking.
