Human chain against irregularities and corruption in Atrai Health Complex

A human chain has been held against the ongoing irregularities and corruption in Atrai Upazila Health Complex of Naogaon district and demanding the removal of Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Roksana Happy. The human chain was organized by Atrai Upazila residents in front of the main gate of Atrai Upazila Health Complex at 10 am on Sunday (September 28). The speakers in the human chain organized by Md. Abdul Rashid said that various irregularities, corruption, negligence of duty and mistreatment of ordinary patients have been going on in the health complex for a long time. In addition, staying in the same workplace for more than 5 years has created a circle of irregularities in the health complex, but the authorities are not taking any effective action. The human chain was addressed by Jamaat-e-Islami MP candidate for Naogaon-6 (Atrai Raninagar) constituency Alhaj Md. Khabirul Islam, Asadullah Al Ghalib, Rana, Hafez Akhteruzzaman, Md. Raihan, Abu Shahin, Akhter Hoson, and others. The speakers said that Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Roksana Happy herself got involved in greed and corruption. They demanded from the Naogaon Civil Surgeon and the Director General of the Health Department that Dr. Roksana Happy should be removed within seven days. Otherwise, a larger program will be announced. The human chain highlighted 11 irregularities in the Atrai Upazila Health Department, for which the speakers demanded immediate solutions. Notable demands include: 1. Removal of the incompetent Roksana Happy within 7 days, 2. Stop negligence of the duties of the doctors and nurses on duty, 3. Investigate corruption in the appointment of ayah-bua in the master rule and bring those responsible to justice, 4. Ensure transparency in food supply and distribution of government medicines, 5. Ensure cleanliness of hospitals, 6. Make it mandatory for doctors to be present in the outpatient department for a specific period of time, 7. Ensure doctors in the emergency department, 8. Provide emergency treatment such as bandages and stitches in the hospital instead of in the chamber, 9. Solve the housing problem of admitted patients, 10. Close the business syndicate of hospital and diagnostic center owners, 11. Ensure basic rights in healthcare The speakers said, “We, the people of the Nadi Beel region, have been deprived of healthcare for a long time. A stronger movement will be developed against this corruption to implement our basic rights.”
