To mark the `World Tourism Day’ a rally and discussion meeting was held in Joypurhat with the theme “Sustainable Development Tourism”. Deputy Commissioner (Joint Secretary) Afroza Akhter Chowdhury delivered her speech as the chief guest under the chairmanship of additional deputy commissioner (General) Bipul Kumar in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.With assistant commissioner and executive magistrate Sazzad Hossain in the chair, the meeting was addressed among others, by Sadar upazila assistant commissioner (Land) Rajib Kumar Biswas, Joypurhat chamber’s director M.A. Karim, Joypurhat Press Club Senior Vice President Mashrekul Alam, Joypurhat Red Crescent Unit Secretary Minhazul Islam Manik, NCP representative Omar Ali Babu, NGO representative Piyas, and tribal leader Ratan Kumar Singh.The speakers at the meeting said that to develop the local tourist centers of the district, create safe accommodation for tourists, and accelerate the overall development of the tourism industry, awareness should be raised about preserving local heritage, culture, and the environment.
