Ukhia BGB separate operation recovers huge quantity of Yaba tablets
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a huge quantity of Yaba tablets in a special anti-drug operation in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar. 150,000 pieces of Yaba were seized in this operation conducted by Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB). BGB informed that on Tuesday (September 23, 2025), based on secret information, at approximately 7.30 am, a special patrol team of Balukhali and Palangkhali BOPs entered Bangladesh approximately 300 yards west of border pillar BRM-19, which is located approximately 1 km north of the BOP at a place called Anjumanpara Post. At approximately 8 am, the patrol team chased after seeing two people entering Bangladesh from Myanmar by boat. One of the smugglers fled towards Myanmar and the other fled through the paddy fields, leaving his bag behind. Ukhia Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin, PSC, confirmed the matter and said, “Intelligence surveillance has been further strengthened to identify and arrest the escaped drug smugglers. The process of handing over the recovered Yaba to Ukhia Police Station is underway.” He added, “BGB is not only working on border guarding, but also on preventing drugs and smuggling. Such operations will continue in the future as well.” It is worth noting that since its establishment, the Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) under the Ramu Sector of Cox’s Bazar Region has been achieving significant success in border security, drug suppression and preventing illegal smuggling.
