Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard (BGB) conducted a joint operation in Teknaf, a border town of Cox’s Bazar, and raided the main hideout of a human trafficking gang, recovering weapons, ammunition and arresting 3 members of the human trafficking gang, along with 84 unharmed victims. BGB sources said that for some time now, the Teknaf battalion has been conducting numerous operations against organized criminal gangs to prevent human trafficking. In various operations, through interrogation and investigation of the rescued victims and arrested accused, the 2 BGBs got important information about the secret hideouts of the human trafficking gangs. Finally, on September 20, 2025, based on secret information received, the BGB learned that a trafficking gang had detained some victims in the deep hills of Baharchara, Kachhpia area of Teknaf by luring them to Malaysia or Thailand. Upon receiving the information, the captain led an anti-human trafficking operation led by 2 BGB. In the operation, the BGB was able to arrest a trafficker from the Baharchara hill area and rescue 4 victims. The BGB received thrilling descriptions of their experiences and important information from the rescued victims. To eliminate the terrible, violent and organized gang, the Teknaf Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman, PSC, and the Commander of RAB 15, Lt. Col. Kamrul Hasan, PSC, embarked on a coordinated and large-scale joint operation. Based on intelligence surveillance by both forces and important information provided by the victims, several smart teams of BGB and RAB led by Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman conducted a breathless combing operation from the Baharchara Kachchhpia area to the Rajachhara hill. In the first phase of the operation, 14 victims were rescued by BGB and RAB and 13 victims were rescued from another nearby hill. After that, while conducting an operation on another hill in the Rajachhara area, the fleeing smugglers desperately fired 2 rounds and then 1 more round at the advancing joint forces from the top of the hill, and the kidnappers pushed several hostages down the hill. To save the lives of the innocent victims, the joint forces immediately surrounded the hill and carried out a daring operation by RAB and BGB to capture the armed smugglers by climbing the steep slopes. With the bravery and tireless efforts of the BGB and RAB members, after a daring operation of about 12 hours, RAB and BGB were able to arrest 2 smugglers and recover a one-shooter gun and a single-barrel gun from the scene. In addition, a foreign pistol, two domestic ramdas and a knife were recovered from their hideout and during this time, the joint operation team of BGB and RAB seized 3 rounds of live ammunition from the chambers of 3 weapons. RAB and BGB sources also informed that in this highly risky operation, the joint operation team rescued 51 victims from various hills and their foothills and 6 more from the mountain tops. On the same day, RAB and BGB rescued 4 more people from the Baraitali area under the responsibility of Damdamiya BOP. Overall, the RAB and BGB operation team rescued a total of 84 victims from the clutches of traffickers in the joint operation. According to the officer-in-charge of the police station, a case has been registered against 3 accused arrested in this operation. Border Guard (BGB) Ramu Sector Commander Colonel Mohiuddin said that this successful joint operation is a reflection of the zero tolerance policy of BGB and RAB against human traffickers and criminals. Such coordinated efforts will continue in the future to ensure the security of the country and protect the lives of people.
