Health and Nutrition Workshop Held by SDF in Shibganj
A stakeholder workshop on health and nutrition was held in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj. The event took place on Monday noon at the conference hall of Shibganj Upazila Health Complex under the
*Resilience, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Improvement (RELI)* project of the Social Development Foundation (SDF). Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin attended the workshop as the chief guest. Physicians from various departments, representatives from the Upazila Health Complex and community clinics, SDF district officials, cluster officers, health and nutrition facilitators, and conveners of village health support committees were also present. During the workshop, it was informed that 58 free health camps have already been conducted among poor and ultra-poor members of 50 village organizations in Shibganj upazila. A total of 2,069 people received primary treatment and consultations, while 89 patients were referred for advanced treatment. Additionally, 321 pregnant women received maternity allowances amounting to Tk 3,081,600, and 24 high-risk mothers were provided with Tk 10,000 each in financial assistance. As part of the health and nutrition initiatives, thousands of families received iron, vitamin, calcium, and zinc tablets, oral saline, and seasonal vegetable seeds. Moreover, each of 8,500 families is set to receive 12 pieces of soap for handwashing. Chief Guest Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin highly praised SDF’s activities, describing the maternity and cesarean allowance program as a humanitarian and timely initiative. Participants at the workshop expressed hope to continue extending their support to SDF’s rural poor communities.
