Former Chairman of Chittagong Journalists’ Cooperative Housing Society, freedom fighter Moinuddin quadery Showkat, has called for the completion of the construction work of the flats of 67 members of the Journalists’ Cooperative Housing Society under construction in the Kalpalok residential area as soon as possible. Last Saturday afternoon, Kaderi Shawkat stopped at Kalpalok Media Tower while going to attend a program on the banks of the Karnaphuli River. Upon receiving the news, journalist Shibbir Ahmed Rashed, who was responsible for supervising the construction work on behalf of the builders’ organization, quickly reached the Media Tower and informed Moinuddin quadery Showkat about the progress of the construction work and showed him on site.

At this time, former Chairman of Journalists’ Housing Society, veteran journalist leader Moinuddin quadery Showkat said that many of the 67 journalists who were allotted flats have already died. And most of those who are alive are at the crossroads of life and death. He urged the journalists who have been allotted flats to complete the construction work quickly and hand over the flats without cursing and sighing. In response, journalist Shibbir Ahmed Rashed, who was responsible for supervising the construction, said, “The time when you (Moinuddin quadery Showkat) were the chairman was the golden age of the Chittagong Journalists Housing Society. At that time, the construction of the journalists’ flat blocks was progressing nicely. Later, some of the officials who came to the committee were trying to take illegal benefits from the builders’ organization and obstructed the construction of the flat blocks in various ways. That is why the construction of the flat blocks was not completed on time.”
Former chairman Moinuddin quadery Showkat said, “I don’t like hearing any excuses anymore. With full trust in Allah, the construction work should be completed quickly and the flats and the outstanding rent should be paid with full strength.”
