The beating to death of a first-year honors student of Netrakona Government College named Jahangir Alam (21) over money owed to him in the district’s Sadar Upazila has created a lot of excitement and tension in the area. The incident took place in Kailati village of Netrakona Sadar Upazila.

According to local residents and police sources, Alamgir Kabir, son of Ali Usman of Kailati village, was in a dispute with the accused over money owed to Roni, Tariqul and Rubel of the neighboring area.

In this regard, on Friday (September 12, 2025) at around 9:00 pm, the accused beat up the deceased’s elder brother Alamgir after finding him alone on the Netrakona-Ishwarganj Road near his house. At that time, when the deceased Jahangir Alam heard screams and came forward to save his brother, he was also beaten indiscriminately.

Later, he was taken to Netrakona Modern Sadar Hospital in an injured condition, where the doctor on duty referred him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment. Jahangir Alam died there at approximately 4:00 am.

As news of Jahangir’s death spread, a shadow of grief descended on the area. Netrakona Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Sajal Kumar Sarkar has already visited the scene.

At this time, he told reporters, “We have heard that Jahangir Alam, who was injured in a fight over money last night, has died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. I have already visited the scene. Further legal action will be taken if the family receives a complaint.
