BGB operation in Ukhia recovers huge amount of Yaba
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a huge amount of Yaba tablets in a special anti-drug operation in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar. The operation conducted by Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) seized 280,000 ownerless Yaba tablets.
The BGB said that on Tuesday (September 9) at around 8 pm, a special patrol team of Balukhali BOP took up position in the area adjacent to border pillar BD-21. At around 9:30 pm, 10-12 suspicious persons entered Bangladesh from the Myanmar side and BGB members (4 BGB members) challenged them.
The BGB identified 6/7 identified smugglers among the smugglers. The smugglers tried to enter Bangladesh by displaying country-made weapons and sticks.
The BGB members present bravely confronted them and under pressure, they jumped into the canal and swam towards Myanmar. Later, two packets wrapped in white polythene were recovered on the banks of the canal. Inside which, a total of 280,000 pieces of Yaba tablets in blue airtight 28-carat bags were found.
Later, the combing operation to arrest the identified smugglers throughout the night lasted until morning. However, the identified smugglers could not be found.
Ukhia Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin, PSC confirmed the matter and said, “The escaped drug smugglers have been identified and intelligence surveillance has been further strengthened to arrest them. The process of handing over the recovered Yaba to Ukhia Police Station is underway.
