The UP members of the council have filed a written complaint with the office of the District Commissioner expressing their distrust of Md. Zahidul Islam, the administrator of Kailati Union Parishad No. 7 of Kalmakanda Upazila in the district.
According to the complaint, he is conducting work on a single decision without consulting any meeting or allocation with the council members. The administrator has to pay 15% to 20% for each project. Even in collusion with direct entrepreneurs and local brokers, he has single-handedly eliminated the names of most of the VWB, mother and child assistance cardholders in exchange for money.
The total number of VWB cards allocated to the union by Jahidul Islam, a fisheries officer of Kalmakanda Upazila, who has been given additional responsibility as the administrator of Kailati Union Parishad, is 252. Out of this, the administrator distributed 84 cards to all the UP members and allocated the rest on his own.
When I asked the administrative officer of the Union Parishad about this, he said that the administrator sir changed my ID to his own name, and all the responsibility in this matter lies with the administrator. UP members and local residents also said that he comes to the Union Parishad two or three days a month and service seekers are being harassed. He claims to be a very big officer and belittles us. Apart from this, he finalizes development projects including food-friendly programs in collusion with local brokers.
He only makes us the president and the administrator takes the profit money. So we have no trust in him. We have no objection if there is a responsible person instead of the said administrator.
Administrator Zahidul Islam said in this regard, I do all the work with the UP members. Due to rain, it was not possible to go everywhere to list the VWB projects. And I am a little sick, so I cannot go to the council regularly.
