Tomtom driver crushed to death by truck in Ramu

A pedestrian tomtom driver was tragically killed when he was hit by a truck while trying to save a dog on the highway in Joarianala, Ramu Upazila on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway.
The accident occurred at around 11 am on Monday (September 8) in the Joarianala Bazar area of the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway.
The deceased youth is Md. Anis (26), son of the late Yusuf Ali of PMkhali Union in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila.
Joarianala Union Parishad Chairman Kamal Shamsuddin Prince said that a Cox’s Bazar-bound truck was crossing the road when a dog was crossing in front of the vehicle.
The driver lost control while trying to save the dog and crushed the pedestrian. He said that the deceased youth is a tomtom driver by profession. He lived in his in-laws’ house in Joarianala.
Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tulatli Police Station of Ramu Highway Police, said that the person who was seriously injured in the truck accident was taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
The doctors on duty there declared him dead.
He said that the car that caused the accident has been seized. The car’s registration number is Dhaka Metro No-20-6710.
