Students form human chain demanding resignation of headmaster in Noakhali
Noakhali Correspondent
Students have formed a human chain and protested demanding the resignation of Noakhali High School headmaster Mahmud Riyad on charges of various financial corruption and irregularities.
The human chain was held in front of the Noakhali District Commissioner’s office at around 11 am on Sunday (September 7).
The program was organized by former and current students and guardians of Noakhali High School.
The human chain was addressed by guardians Amjad Hossain, Sourav Hossain, Nizam Uddin, and tenth grade students Yasin Arafat Nahian, Mainul Hossain and Sajjad Hossain, among others.
The speakers complained that Noakhali High School was established in 1969.
Most of the families around this school are extremely poor and daily wage laborers.
Therefore, since the children of these families do not have the opportunity to get admission in the city’s prestigious schools, this school is their only hope.
But the headmaster Mahmud Riyad collects more money than the policy for student admission.
The assistant female teacher behaves badly with the guardians. He demands and collects extortion without receipts.
He tries to convert the educational institution into a business institution and shows an inhuman and cruel attitude towards orphans and poor students.
However, despite complaining to several relevant places, the students and guardians have not received any redress.
When asked about the complaint, the headmaster of Noakhali High School Mahmud Riyad said, I am in a meeting and will talk about it later.
When asked about this, Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Ishtiaq Ahmed said, the students have come to me.
They have been asked to submit their complaints in writing. The matter will be investigated if a written complaint is received.
