BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman gifted a house to the helpless Shukkuri Begum (70) in Durgapur Upazila of the district.

Durgapur Upazila and Municipal BNP leaders formally handed over the newly constructed semi-paved house in Khujiura village of Ward No. 8 of Durgapur Municipality to the helpless Shukkuri Begum.

Present at the event were former joint convener of the district BNP, Bazlur Rahman Pathan, Durgapur Upazila BNP President Md. Zahirul Alam Bhuiyan, General Secretary Md. Abdul Awal, Organizing Secretary Md. Jamal Uddin Master, Municipal BNP President Ataur Rahman Farid,

General Secretary Md. Harez Gani, Municipal Youth Party member Khan Sumon, Municipal Student Party joint convener Sunny Dhali, Kullagara Union BNP General Secretary Shah Alam and other leaders.

BNP leaders said that Shukkuri Begum, a 70-year-old woman from Ujiura village, had been living in a dilapidated house by begging after losing her husband, a son and three daughters in the past few years. After her helplessness was published in various media, the matter came to the attention of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. He immediately ordered BNP Central Committee Legal Affairs Secretary and Nationalist Lawyers Forum Secretary General Barrister Kaiser Kamal to build a semi-pakka house for the homeless Shukkuri Begum.

Later, with the overall support and supervision of Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Legal Affairs Secretary of the BNP Central Committee and Secretary General of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum, a semi-pakka house was built next to the Chapra house on Friday afternoon.

The house was formally handed over to the helpless Shukkuri Begum.

He raised his hands to the great Rabbul Al Amin and prayed for the good health and longevity of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and BNP Central Committee Legal Affairs Secretary Barrister Kaiser Kamal.
