Bumper yield of Aman in Rangpur, smiles on farmers’ faces

The target of Aman cultivation in Gangachara Upazila this season was 19,350 hectares.
With the technical support and advice of the government’s incentive program and the Department of Agricultural Extension, Gangachara, a total of 19,355 hectares of land have been cultivated with Aman, exceeding the target this year.
This year, a total of 2,700 farmers have been given 5 kg of quality high-yielding paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer under the incentive during the Aman season.
As a result, a total of 361 hectares of land have come under the Aman incentive.
Due to the regular supervision and technical support at the field level of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Gangachara, farmers are expecting a good yield this season.
Farmers Alam Mia and Naresh Chandra Sarkar of Nabanidas block said, ‘This year we received seeds and fertilizers from the agriculture office on time, and we are expecting good yields as the quality of the seeds is good.’
In Gangachara Upazila, the ‘Sajina Gram Srijan’ program is currently underway in 27 blocks to make Sajina, known as a superfood, more popular. To meet the demand for chili this season, a total of 540 families are cultivating chili in sacks, 135 families are producing quality vermicompost and applying balanced fertilizer through the use of Khamari Apps.

In addition, the vegetable seed support program is continuing to meet the nutritional needs of the beneficiaries of 18 shelter projects in Gangachara.

In order to discourage tobacco cultivation in the upcoming Rabi season, specific incentive proposals for potentially profitable crops instead of tobacco have already been sent to the Ministry of Agriculture.

In addition, with the overall support of the Additional Agricultural Officer, Agricultural Extension Officer and Deputy Assistant Agricultural Officers under the leadership of the Upazila Agricultural Officer, farmers are receiving regular technical assistance at the field level and enterprising and enterprising farmers are being brought under training. The overall activities of the Agricultural Office are improving the fortunes of farmers and increasing crop productivity.
