No terrorist activity will be allowed to take place on Bangladeshi soil – Colonel Mohiuddin
SM Humayun Kabir, Cox’s Bazar
No terrorist activity will be allowed to take place on the territory of Bangladesh. All kinds of mischief at the border will be strictly suppressed, said Col. Mohiuddin Ahmed, Sector Commander of Cox’s Bazar BGB. He made these remarks at a view-exchange meeting with journalists at the Ramu BGB sector headquarters in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday afternoon. Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed said that they were allowed to enter on humanitarian grounds after seeing the condition of some injured and helpless Rohingyas. However, we are working with the utmost sincerity in border security. Strict surveillance is underway to prevent drugs and infiltration. He said the government has already decided to increase manpower in the BGB to deal with the border situation. Regarding the Bangladeshi fishermen held hostage by the Arakan Army, Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed said that so far 51 fishermen are held hostage by them. Although we do not have official contact with them, unofficial contact is ongoing. We are putting pressure on them so that no more prisoners are kidnapped. He told fishermen that when fishing in the sea, they must adhere to the designated water limits. They are often at risk due to ignorance and crossing the border with the help of some smugglers.
