A human chain was formed protesting the tax hike by Joypurhat Pourashabha authority. On Sunday afternoon, a human chain was formed in front of the Joypurhat Central Mosque by local conscious civil society and Green and Colony. With MA Wahab, the convenor of the conscious civil committee also former student leader in the chair, the human chain was addressed, among others, by educationist Pricipal Ali Hasan Mukta, former vice president of Joypurhat government college student union and businessman Motior Rahman, former student leader and businessman ATM Shahnawaz Kabir Shuvro, Green and Colony President Rashdeuzzaman Rashed, women social worker Parveen Banu Rule and Jaheda Kamal. The speakers in the human chain said that apart from increasing civic amenities, if unnecessary pourashabha’s taxes on business establishments and house extensions are not withdrawn, a larger program will be announced soon.
