Dr. Rabeya Begum, wife of Dr. KM Babar, a member of Gopalganj district BNP and a candidate for the party’s nomination for the post of MP in the upcoming national elections, held a press conference to protest the conspiracy against him. He held a press conference at the district BNP party office on the second floor of Gopalganj Borabazar Municipal Market at 11:30 am on Saturday (August 23). Dr. Rabeya Begum said in her written statement, “On August 22nd at around 2 am, the joint forces came to my house and later searched various rooms. During the search, they recovered a country pipe organ from the water in the commode flush in my mother-in-law’s bathroom. At that time, in response to various questions from the joint forces, I told them that I am a doctor by profession. I leave home in the morning and return home at night. My husband is involved in Gopalganj district BNP politics. I suspect that someone or some of my opponents have conspired to do this to humiliate or frame my husband. “Therefore, I strongly demand a fair and impartial investigation into this incident from the law enforcement agencies.” District BNP joint convener Advocate Kazi Abul Khair, member Advocate MA Alam Selim, member SM Taufiqul Islam, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Fazlul Haque Dara, Vice President Abdul Alim, District Chhatra Dal General Secretary Saiful Islam, District Jubo Dal President Riaz Uddin Lipton, General Secretary Rashequzzaman Palash, Municipal Chhatra Dal General Secretary Sajid and a large number of leaders of BNP and allied organizations were present at the press conference. Incidentally, on the night of August 22, the joint forces conducted a raid at the house of BNP leader Dr. K. M. Babar and searched various rooms of the house and at one stage recovered a country-made pipe gun from the water of the commode flush in his mother’s bathroom. At that time, BNP leader Dr. K. M. Babar was not present at the house.
