The Moulvibazar District Branch of the Bangladesh Kindergarten Association (Gov. Reg. No. S 1028/98) held a press conference as part of a nationwide protest demanding that young students from kindergarten and private primary schools be given the opportunity to participate in the 2025 Government Primary Scholarship Examination. Md. Ehsanul Haque (Ehsan Bin Mujahir), president of the Moulvibazar District Branch of the Bangladesh Kindergarten Association, read out a written statement at a press conference held at the city’s local auditorium on Tuesday (August 12) afternoon. In a written statement, he said, “The circular has set a discriminatory precedent by depriving a large number of students from kindergartens and private primary schools, who have made groundbreaking and timely contributions to primary education, from the opportunity to participate in the scholarship exam.” Kindergarten and private primary school students have achieved great success by participating in the primary final examinations held from 2009 to 2019 and the scholarship examinations held in 2022 from their respective institutions. The current anti-discrimination government was established in exchange for the sacrifices of many students against discrimination in the July Revolution. It is unexpected that young kindergarten students would again be subjected to that discrimination during the interim government. The circular of the Department of Primary Education dated July 17 was cancelled and the attention of the government and the relevant department authorities was sought to ensure that the equal rights of young students in kindergartens and private primary schools, including the primary scholarship examination, remain intact. Bangladesh Kindergarten Association’s Moulvibazar District Organizing Secretary Mohammad Abdul Hannan, Srimangal Upazila President Ali Ahmed, Finance Secretary Ashikur Rahman Chowdhury and head teachers of various kindergarten schools were present at the press conference. After the press conference, a memorandum was submitted to the Moulvibazar District Commissioner’s office. Meanwhile, on the same day, a press conference was held in various upazilas including Rajnagar Juri under the initiative of the Upazila Committee of the Bangladesh Kindergarten Association (Gov. Reg. No. S-1028/98) for the same demand. The memorandum was submitted to the office of the concerned Upazila Executive Officer.
