July Uprising anniversary celebrated in Gopalganj

A Jamaat-e-Islami mass rally and a BNP victory rally were held in Gopalganj to mark the anniversary of the July Uprising. On Tuesday (August 5), at 11:30 am, Sadar Upazila BNP took out a colorful victory procession from in front of Gopalganj Municipal New Market. The procession circled various roads of the city including Panchuria, Court area, Post Office intersection, Chowrangi and ended at Battala in front of Gopalganj Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium. There, leaders and activists participated in a short rally. The rally was addressed by Gopalganj District BNP Convener Bir Muktijoddha Sharif Rafiquzzaman, Member Secretary Adv. Kazi Abul Khair, Member Dr. KM Babar, Member Adv. MA Selim, Adv. Taufiqul Islam, BNP Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Branch President Sikder Shahidul Islam Lelin, General Secretary Fazlul Haque (Dara) and others. A large number of leaders of BNP and allied organizations were present at the time. At the same time, a mass procession was taken out in front of the Gopalganj SK Alia Madrasa area under the initiative of the Gopalganj district branch of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh. The procession circled various roads of the city and ended at Launchghat area. Later, a short rally was held there where Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, Gopalganj district branch Ameer and Jamaat’s nominated candidate for Gopalganj-3 constituency Professor Rezaul Karim, Gopalganj-2 constituency candidate and former district Jamaat Ameer Adv. Ajmal Hossain Sardar, Gopalganj-1 constituency candidate and former district Jamaat Ameer Abdul Hamid and District Jamaat Secretary Al-Masud Khan along with local leaders and activists addressed the gathering. Gopalganj District Jamaat Ameer MM Rezaul Karim said, “The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami wants to create an ideal and welfare state of the Al-Quran by capturing the spirit of the July-August uprising. We hope that the people of Bangladesh will vote for Jamaat-e-Islami and give it an opportunity to build an ideal state free from terrorism and corruption. You have seen 54 years of rule, we promise that the people’s money will be distributed equally with the people.” Earlier in the morning, on the occasion of the anniversary of the July Uprising, special prayers and prayers were held at the altar of the 7 martyrs killed in the July Uprising at the initiative of the Gopalganj district administration. In addition, a meeting of the families of the July martyrs and the July fighters was held at the “Swachhta” conference room of the Deputy Commissioner. The meeting, held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner of Gopalganj and the learned District Magistrate (Joint Secretary) Muhammad Kamruzzaman, was attended by District Police Superintendent Md. Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Director (Retd.) of the Local Government Department and Gopalganj Municipal Administrator (Retd.), Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) SM Tarek Sultan, District BNP Convener Bir Muktijoddha Sharif Rafiquzzaman, District Jamaat Ameer Professor Rezaul Karim, along with the families of the martyrs and the July fighters.
