People from all walks of life, including the district administration, police department, various political and social organizations, paid tribute by placing wreaths at the grave of Ramzan Ali, who was martyred in the July Uprising, in Nandipur Charpara village of Sadar Upazila of the district.
On Tuesday (August 5) morning, a minute of silence and prayers were observed after visiting the grave of martyr Ramzan. After that, a victory procession started from the Moktarpara Bridge area of the district town and circled the main road of the town before ending at the public hall.
Many people including Deputy Commissioner Banani Biswas, Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayem Mahmud, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Asma Binte Rafiq paid their respects at Ramzan’s grave.
Speakers at the discussion meeting said that Ramzan Ali was a working man and an ordinary person who sacrificed his life for the country’s democratic movement and was martyred today.
District Administrator Banani Biswas said, “May everyone be inspired by patriotism, embracing the spirit for which Ramzan was martyred and gave his life.”
Ramzan’s mother said, “I pray for my son. Please pray too, so that he may attain the status of a martyr.”
It is known that Ramzan Ali of Nandipur village in Charpara migrated to Dhaka just five years ago to alleviate the poverty of his family and worked as a laborer at Akij Group. On July 19, 2024, he was killed in police firing during a student-public procession in Rampura, Dhaka, during the July Revolution program.
