July Uprising Day observed in Joypurhat

The glorious August 5th Uprising Day was celebrated with due dignity in Joypurhat through various programs. In the morning, the day-long program began with the laying of wreaths at the graves of the July martyrs at the initiative of the district administration. Political and social organizations organized rallies and discussion meetings to commemorate the day. The district administration organized a reunion of the July martyrs’ families at the District Shilpakala Academy. The martyred family members and injured July warriors were welcomed. After the inauguration of the voluntary blood donation program at the Joypurhat Shilpakala Academy, a conference of the July martyrs’ family members, distribution of clothes among street children, discussion meetings, prize distribution and cultural performances were organized. Later, Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akhter Chowdhury spoke as the chief guest at the discussion meeting. Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdul Wahab spoke as a special guest. The meeting was also addressed, among others, by executivre officer of Zilla Parishad Sarkar Mohammad Raihan, General Hospital Superintendent Sardar Rashed Mubarak Jewel, District BNP Convener Golzar Hossain, District Jamaat Ameer Dr. Fazlur Rahman Sayeed, Shaheed Rita Akhtar’s mother Rehena Begum, Shaheed Bishal’s grandfather Abdul Matin, July fighters Rashedul Islam, Asif Monir, Hasibul Haque Sanjid. The speakers at the meeting said, “July is not just a time, it is a historical symbol of the people of Bengal’s mass awakening and heroic resistance against tyranny. It is a day of promise that no tyranny will be allowed to come to Bangladesh again. Those who gave their lives in this month will be remembered forever among us.
Later, a cultural program was held. Prayers and supplications were offered in every religious place of worship. In the afternoon, a huge rally initiated by Jamaat-e-Islami started from the local martyr Dr. Abul Kashem Maidan and paraded the main roads of Joypurhat town and ended in the middle of the rally. District Ameer Dr. Fazlur Rahman, Secretary Golam Kibria, and Joint Secretary Hasibul Alam Liton spoke. District BNP also organized a huge rally at 5 pm. After parading the main roads of the town, the rally met at the rally.
