Sandhip Upazila AL President arrested from father in-laws’ house with cocktails

Police have arrested Alauddin Bedon, president of Sandhip Upazila Awami League, from Hatia Upazila of Noakhali. He was arrested from Jorkhali village in Ward No. 7 of Burirchar Union of the upazila around 6 am on Thursday (July 31).
The arrested Alauddin Bedon is the son of the late Abul Kashem of Harishpur village, Ward No. 3 of Sandhip Municipality, Chittagong.
He has been the president of the Sandhip Upazila Awami League for a long time. Police and local sources said that police learned that Alauddin Bedon had been hiding in his in-laws’ house for a long time since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5.
Based on such information, the police conducted a raid in Jorkhali village of Burirchar union of the upazila on Thursday morning. At that time, the police arrested Bedon from Kalam Haji’s house in Jorkhali village along with 10 pieces of cocktails.
Locals said that Sandeep and 15-20 other associates of his fled after sensing the presence of the police. Bedon is the daughter of Nurul Islam of Jorkhali village, ward number 7 of Burirchar union. When contacted, Hatia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Ajmal Huda confirmed the incident and said that AL leader Bedon was arrested with 10 pieces of cocktails.
A case is being filed under the Explosives Act in this incident. He will be presented before the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday morning after being arrested in that case.
