Historic Nazirpur Battle Day celebrated in Netrakona

Netrokona celebrates the historic Nazirpur Battle Day. People from all walks of life commemorated the martyrs in various programs, including laying wreaths at the shrine of the seven martyrs in Kalmakanda, Shimanto Upazila. On Saturday (July 26) from 12 noon, on the occasion of the annual Day of Justice, the district upazila administration and freedom fighters command paid tribute to the martyrs by placing flowers at the tomb of the martyrs in Fulbaria near the border pillar of Lengura Union in Kalmakanda Upazila. Netrokona Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sukhmoy Sarkar, former MP and former president of the district nationalist party BNP, freedom fighter Ashraf Uddin Khan, Kalmakanda Upazila Executive Officer Faizul Wasima Nahat, Kalmakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Lutfar Rahman, freedom fighters and people from different walks of life paid tribute to the martyrs. Later, after the guard of honor was given to the martyrs, a minute of silence was observed to pay respect to the martyrs and prayers were offered. Freedom fighters from the district, local and different areas came to this. Along with this, the general public from political, social and cultural organizations paid their respects by offering flowers. Earlier, the administration and freedom fighters paid tribute by placing flowers at the memorial built at the Nazirpur battlefield in the upazila. It is noteworthy that on this day, doctors Abdul Aziz and Fazlul Haque of Netrakona, Yar Mahmud of Muktagachha, Mymensingh, Bhabatosh Chandra Das, Nuruzzaman, Dwijendra Chandra Biswas and Jamal Uddin of Jamalpur were martyred in the frontal battle by the Pakistani occupying forces. Each person is buried near the boundary marker, Pillar No. 1172.
