Police have recovered the hanging bodies of a couple in Kuralia village of Durgapur upazila in Netrakona. The bodies of two people were recovered from their homes on Sunday morning (July 20). The deceased were identified as Sohag Mia (24), a mason, son of Abdul Quddus of Chaklenggura village, and his wife Jhuma Akhtar (21), daughter of Rahim Uddin of Kuralia village. According to local sources, Sohag and Jhuma got married about three years ago. After marriage, Sohag lived with his wife and children at his in-laws’ house. They have a two-year-old daughter in their family. They ate dinner around 10pm on Saturday and went to sleep in their own room. In the morning, other members of the family found their bodies hanging from a pole inside the house. Later, after receiving information from locals, the police went to the spot, recovered the body and took it to the police station. Durgapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudul Hasan said, “Upon receiving the news, the police recovered the two bodies.” Initially, it is believed that they may have committed suicide due to a family dispute. “The body will be sent to the Netrakona Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The exact cause of death will be known once the autopsy report is received.”
