Teachers and students of the Baliadanga Government Primary School in Fakirhat Upazila of Bagerhat have formed a human chain to protest the sexual assault on a fourth-grade student (9) and demand punishment for the sexual assaulter. The handshake was held in front of Baliadanga Government Primary School on Thursday (July 17) at around 11:30 am. At that time, the teachers and students present strongly condemned and protested the incident. They demanded immediate arrest of the accused and exemplary punishment. At that time, the acting headmaster of this school, Molla Aslam Maha, along with various teachers and students, local people participated in this manbandhan. The child’s family and teachers said that on July 14, around 7:30 pm, a man named Md. Faisal (42) tried to rape the child student in his home in Karakhali, Bagerhat Sadar. When the child fell ill, the family members quickly brought him to the Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex. From there, he was referred to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. In this regard, on July 16, the child’s father filed a case under the Women and Child Abuse Act with Bagerhat Sadar Police Station. However, the accused Md. Faisal is absconding after the incident.
