World Population Day was celebrated in Joypurhat with the theme “Youth empowerment is necessary to build a family of choice in a fair and promising world”. To mark the day a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner organized by the IEM Unit of the Department of Family Planning and implemented by the District Department of Family Planning. Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akhter Chowdhury addressed the function as chief guest in the discussion meeting. With Kamal Hossain, Deputy Director of the District Family Planning Department in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Joypurhat Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Al Mamun, District BNP Convener Golzar Hossain, District Jamaat Ameer Fazlur Rahman Sayeed, Agricultural Engineer Sirajul Islam, General Secretary of Joypurhat Press Club Masud Rana, Upazila Family Planning Officer Dr. Umme Kulsum and various government and private officials. In recognition of their good work at the district and upazila levels, 9 people were awarded crests and honorable awards at the meeting.
