Regarding the arrest of 05 members of a gang of thieves and robbers along with 342 stolen mobile phones, 06 laptops and 2 lakh taka in cash in a special operation by CMP’s DB (West).

Several gangs have been snatching cash, mobile phones and various important goods from the pockets of the public for a long time in the Chittagong metropolitan area. These gangs are usually more active in crowds or public places. Sometimes they do this work by being passengers or mixing with ordinary people. In addition, they also commit such crimes more often at various festivals or events. These gangs sometimes behave violently while picking pockets or robbing and forcibly snatch important goods including mobile phones. Later, they send the stolen/robbed mobile phones to different districts of the country including Rohingya camps, Myanmar, Nepal and India at high prices.

On 10/07/2025, SI (Retd)/Md. Rabiul Islam, working in the Metropolitan Detective (West) Division of CMP, along with the officer force, while on special operation duty in the Chittagong Metropolitan area, at 21.30 pm, while standing in front of the gate of the Muslim High School under the Kotwali Police Station of Chittagong Metropolitan Area, based on secret information, recovered stolen and looted mobile phones and goods from different areas of Chittagong Metropolitan Area.
