Water tanks were distributed for rainwater conservation in Burigoalini Union in Shyamnagar, Satkhira. On Thursday (July 10th) at 10 am, water tanks were distributed under the Capacity Building of Poor People Affected by Climate Change (Environment) Project of Bangladesh in collaboration with donor organization Netz Bangladesh (Partnership for Development Justice) organized by BARSIC at the Burigoalini Union Parishad premises. The water tank distribution ceremony was moderated by the Upazila Coordinator of BARSIC Environment Project, Monanjoy Mondal, and the project was presided over by Burigoalini UP Chairman Haji Nazrul Islam. District Coordinator Masum Billah delivered a welcome speech related to the project, and Upazila Executive Officer Md. Roni Khatun was present as the chief guest. He said, “The Barsik Environment Project will play a role in resolving the drinking water crisis by providing water tanks to the poorest families in the coastal areas.” Burigoalini UP members, representatives of Sabuj Samhati, journalists, representatives of civil society, members of the Burigoalini Community CSO of the Environment Project and Barsik employees were present at the event. It is worth noting that a total of 597 1,000 liter and 2 3,000 liter water tanks will be distributed in phases among the CSO members of the Environment Project in 8 unions of Shyamnagar and Ashashuni Upazilas of the Barsik Environment Project.
