5 accused arrested in Farhad Jewel murder case sent to court in Matlab Uttar

Five people arrested in the murder case of Farhad Jewel (27), a young man from Satani and Mohanpur areas of Matlab Uttar upazila, have been sent to court after preliminary interrogation.
The arrested are Jihadul Islam, son of the deceased Abul Kashem, and Nazrul Islam of Satani village in Kalakanda union, Kabir Hossain, son of Shahjahan Molla of the same village, Monir Hossain, son of Hazrat Ali, and Monir Hossain Khalasi of Mohanpur village.
The deceased’s family says that the mystery of the murder will be revealed if the accused are remanded and questioned.
They allege that Jewel was called and killed in a planned manner.
It is learned that Farhad Jewel left his house on the morning of July 4 and did not return.
A day after the family searched, his body was recovered by the naval police floating in the Meghna River in the Nilkamal area of Haimchar upazila on the morning of July 5.
The body had injury marks on the head, back and various parts of the body, according to the police.
In this incident, the deceased’s father Abul Hashem filed a murder case with Matlab Uttar Police Station, naming 15 people as the plaintiff and 8-10 more unidentified people as accused.
Chandpur District Police Superintendent Muhammad Abdur Rakib said, we are seriously investigating the murder of Farhad Jewel.
Five people have been arrested, and those involved will be identified and brought to justice.
If necessary, they will be brought on remand and questioned.
The family of the deceased Jewel has demanded a fair trial for the murder.
