BNP’s Central Executive Committee’s Fishermen Affairs Secretary and former MP Lutfur Rahman Kajal visited the damaged areas of the Bankkhali River and called for urgent measures to repair the damage. On Wednesday (July 9) at 9 am, he visited Mistri Para of Chakmarkul Union of Ramu Upazila, Chikal Ghat of Fatekharkul Union, Purba Rajarkul, Majhir Kata of Gorjania Union, Majhir Kata, Beltoli Bazar Ferry Ghat, and Duchhari Village of Kachchhapia Union, which were affected by the erosion of the Bakkhali River in the upazila. During the visit, public leader Kajal exchanged views with the local people and expressed deep concern after witnessing their plight. She said, “Every year, people are losing their homes, cropland and livelihood due to the erosion of the Bankkhali River. However, the concerned departments are not taking any effective steps. “If action is not taken now, the situation will become dire.” He immediately drew the attention of relevant government agencies, including the Water Development Board, to protect the banks of the Bankkhali River and ensure sustainable defense dams. At that time, he told BNP leaders and activists, “It is our moral responsibility to stand by people in their happiness and sorrow. We must extend a helping hand to the common people, especially in times of natural disasters and suffering.” He further said, “With the national elections ahead, various conspiracies have begun. The forces that destroy democracy are weaving a web of conspiracy.
