Deputy Commissioner inspects Jamuna River erosion-affected area in Sariakandi

Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Hosna Afroza inspects the area affected by Jamuna River erosion in the remote char area of Sariakandi Upazila of Bogura. He visited the Manikdair erosion-affected area of Chaluabari Union on Tuesday (July 8) afternoon. At the same time, he assured the people living in the area about the measures taken to prevent river erosion and how to quickly protect them from the effects of river erosion, and instructed the relevant departments to take effective measures to prevent river erosion. The measures already taken to prevent river erosion were reviewed and it was asked to take measures to prevent river erosion by placing geo bags at all points that are at risk. He also said that it is urgent to implement the demand of this area, and he will write to the Honorable Chief Advisor to inform him. Earlier in the morning, when Deputy Commissioner Hosna Afroza arrived at the municipality office, Upazila Executive Officer and Municipal Administrator Md. Shahriar Rahman welcomed her with flowers. Then he provided financial assistance to the needy people affected by natural disasters and river erosion. Additional Deputy Commissioner Masud Hossain, Saryakandi Upazila Executive Officer Shahriar Rahman, Bogura Water Development Board Sub-Divisional Engineer Humayon Kabir, Water Development Branch-1 Deputy Assistant Engineer Abdul Malek, Jamuna River Erosion Prevention Steering Committee Joint Convener Principal Mizanur Rahman, Member Secretary Rawshanul Kawsar Manik, BNP leader Mohidul Islam, public representatives and local journalists were present at the time.
