Comilla University (CoU) has introduced a new policy for its undergraduate entrance exams, allowing candidates to bring their bags into examination halls. This decision aims to minimize inconvenience for students and prevent unnecessary harassment over items such as calculators, phones, and watches. However, all bags must be deposited in designated corners within the hall before the exam begins.
During a press conference on Tuesday (April 15) at the university’s administrative building, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Haidar Ali announced the decision, along with several other important guidelines. To ensure a fair examination process, university authorities will implement strict security measures. Students will undergo checks on their ears, eyes, and facial features before entering the exam hall to prevent malpractice, with female candidates being screened by female invigilators.
Candidates will be allowed to enter the examination center up to an hour before the exam, but access to halls will be granted only 30 minutes prior. Additionally, university faculty members will be stationed at each center to oversee the process as exam inspectors. Once the examination officially starts, late arrivals will not be permitted entry, reinforcing the university’s commitment to maintaining a disciplined and smooth exam process.
The press conference was attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Haidar Ali, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masuda Kamal, Proctor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hakim, and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sulaiman, who discussed key admission rules and security measures with journalists.
This year’s entrance exam will be held across 30 centers, including Comilla University campus and multiple educational institutions in Cumilla city. The new guidelines reflect the university’s effort to provide a fair and secure environment for all examinees.
