Bengali New Year celebrated with various events in Gopalganj

People from all walks of life in the district, including the administration, have welcomed the Bengali New Year – 1432 with a festive celebration by celebrating various programs in Gopalganj.
The New Year celebrations, organized by the Gopalganj district administration, began at 7 am on Monday (Baishakh 1) at the local municipal park with the singing of the national anthem by thousands of people.
Later, the first Baishakh-1432 was welcomed by singing the song “Eso He Baishakh, Eso Eso” composed by the world poet Rabindranath Tagore. Then, solo and group recitations, music and dance were performed with the participation of small artists from Gopalganj Shishu Academy and various cultural organizations, and finally the traditional stick game of rural Bengal. In addition, on the occasion of the celebration of Bengali New Year-1432, Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate (Joint Secretary) Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and District Police Superintendent Md. Mizanur Rahman presented prizes to the winners of various competitions organized by Gopalganj Shishu Academy at the New Year reception stage. The administration distributed New Year greeting boxes (bottled drinking water, muri moya, gaja, khai, batasa and granular sweets) to all the guests who came to the municipal park on the occasion of the New Year.
After the award ceremony, a colorful procession started from the Municipal Park at 9 am.
The procession circled various roads and ended back at the same place.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Kamruzzaman and Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman wished all the people of Gopalganj a happy Bengali New Year.
He also expressed his hope that the people of Gopalganj would awaken a sense of brotherhood in the days ahead and live happily and peacefully with each other.
The event organized by the Gopalganj District Administration was attended by Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate (Joint Secretary) Muhammad Kamruzzaman as the chief guest.
Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Local Government Department and Gopalganj Municipal Administrator Bishwajit Kumar Pal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Golam Kabir, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) SM Tarek Sultan, Executive Officer of Gopalganj District Council Amit Deb Nath, and Gopalganj District BNP Convener Bir Muktijoddha Sharif Rafiquzzaman were present as special guests.
Meanwhile, the wives of the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, along with other officials and their families, were present at the New Year’s Eve ceremony at the municipal park.
At that time, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Executive Officer M Rakibul Hasan, District BNP member Adv. Taufiqul Islam, Principal of Government Bangabandhu College Md. Ohid Alam Laskar, District Civil Surgeon Dr. Abu Sayeed Faruk, District Ansar and VDP Commandant (BVMS) Mojibul Haque, Assistant Director of District Narcotics Control Department Mohammad Nabi Newaz, Deputy Assistant Director of District Fire Service and Civil Defense Shiplu Ahmed, Superintendent of Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital Dr. Jibetish Biswas, Executive Engineer of Gopalganj Public Works Department Swarnendu Shekhar Mondal, Executive Engineer of Gopalganj LGED Md. Ehsanul Haque, Executive Engineer of Gopalganj Roads and Highways Department Md. Azharul Islam, Executive Engineer of Gopalganj Public Health Engineering Department Faiz Ahmed, District Livestock Officer Dr. Gobinda Chandra Sardar, Deputy Director of Gopalganj Regional Passport Office Md. Nurul Huda, Deputy Director of District Social Services Office Harun-or-Rashid, Principal of Gopalganj Sheikh Hasina Government Girls High School and College Shahnaz Reza Annie, Sadar Upazila Statistics Officer Ujjal Biswas, Motor Vehicle Inspector of Gopalganj BRTA Ziauddin, other administration officials, media personnel working in various electronic and print media in the district, leaders of various levels of political organizations, teachers, students and guardians of educational institutions were present.
Along with the Gopalganj district administration, various cultural organizations and educational institutions, including the Gopalganj University of Science and Technology, celebrate the New Year in different ways.
Other upazilas of the district also welcomed the Bengali New Year-1432 in a festive atmosphere through various programs.
Additionally, on the occasion of the New Year celebration, an 8-day folk and cultural fair has been organized at the Outer Stadium under the initiative of the Gopalganj district administration.
